an various trials and tribulations
March 30, 1999. Tuesday.
It's a little past 7:30am. I'm all alone here in the place I call "work," so I thought i'd take the time to learn a little HTML. I like to do most of my html before breakfast. That's a lie. But I just like to say I do things "before breakfast," or "before you were even born" And breakfast this morning will be Coco Pebbles. But first, some writing. This is my first attempt to write without using some HMTL editor. Yessir, I can see the town of Geekdom off there in the distance. Getting closer all the time. Anyway, Not really much in the way of things to report right now. Mainly, Berry and I had our usual TV showdown last night. i mean, she pays to have tv in her room, and I don't, so shouldn't she just watch in there instead of imposing her will on me? She did after a while. I like to filp around a little and see what's out there. But moving right along...
Actually, beyond TV, there wasn't much else noteworthy about yesterday. Easily my least noteworthy day in a while. I went home and tried to take a nap, but that wasn't working out so I called Jed and chatted with him for a while. So then I ate some toast, ate dinner, watched an hour of the Simpsons, watched some more cartoons, dicked around on the 4-track, watched some more tv, then went to bed, thought about calling Rodzilla, and fell asleep. Since I don't have much else to report, here's what Berry did during that same time span: Did some work, called about her painting investment, came home, went to the gym, went to the grocery store, made a dinner of Shake-n-Bake chicken, ate her dinner with applesauce, watched tv, ate some smores, wathced more tv in her room, went to bed. Truly, we live two of the most mundane lives I've ever encountered. The only thing keeping this interesting this morning is the fact that I am apparently completely incompetant when it comes to HTML. I can't get the simplest things to work. I smell another email to Mimi. I can't even get that link to work. Sorry, meems. Maybe I'll give it another shot later. But first... time for those Coco Pebbles.
Hmmmm... for some reason, I
got it to work. Well, as long as I'm here, I might as well tell you about
the Simpons episodes that I watched yesterday. Two of the funnier ones
I've seen in a while, and on the same night! sigh.... what's happened to
me? Anyway, pathetic loneliness notwithstanding, the first one was the
episode where Home joins the Movmentarians. The best part is to me is when
he first gets to the compound, and everything is peaceful and serene and
everone is in a sort of trance, and he comes blazing through everyone in
his car screamin, "Outta the way, Jerk-ass!" And when he's running to see
their free movie, he shoves the people aside and runs away screaming, "Outta
the way, Jerk-ass!" I think I'm gonna start using that. Anyway, the point
is, it's the best show ever created, and maybe one of the best creations
ever, period. This is a fairly good
site in case you're bored. And if you're reading this, you are.
Anyway, now it's
really time for those Coco Pebbles.
The woman who sits at
the desk across the way is gone right now, and her computer has gone to
the srceen saver. It's the same one she's had since December. It's a very
pleasant looking scene of a country house in late-afternoon. It's snowy
and cloudy, and rather peaceful. The audio track is "What Child is This?"
It's pretty loud. But it kinda feels Christmas-y around here. I think people
who have walked by mupltiple times are actually whistling it to themselves.
But really, is that so bad? Wouldn'tit be great if we all that Christmas
cheer all year 'round? At the smae time, though, it's sort of a somber
tune, and i feel a little down. oh well, I'm outta here in less than an
hour.
