August 1, 1999.
Well, this is my last entry from Lexington, VA.
I'm here of course in Reid Hall. I'm almost all done moving out of
Graham-Lees dorm, and I should be on the road in about an hour. But
I thought I'd try to write a bit first from campus, seeing as I don't know
when I'll be back. The first time for that feeling. I don't like it. Anyway,
Rodzilla left about an hour ago with her pops..
Sad Sad. But I'm supposed to see her in about 6 days anyway, so i guess
it'll be aight. By the way, it's been one year today. I believe that
one year ago today, her first thought on the new development was "Oh GOD!"
I'm very sad about leaving Lexington.
It's been home for the past 5 years. But time to move on.
So anyway, on friday, all the kids left. So
that night, all us counselor types threw ourselves a big party. We try
to do that every year, but this was the first time it actually worked.
Normally everyone goes their separte ways. so that was fun. then we went
tunneling in the tunnels under the campus. I'd never done that before,
and it's something you're supposed to do before you leave here, so i thought
i should do it. The only problem was that i'm sorta claustrophobic at times,
and it was really hot down there due to the hot water pipes. So that
was unpleasant. But in the end it was ok. It was a little scary after
we went about 150 yards to find our exit locked. But we quickly found another
one.
On saturday, we didn't do much of anything. Rodzilla
had to go eat lunch with one of her professors, and I tried to get online
for a few hours. that was unsuccessful, so I just watched tv. It's too
damn hot here. And I do miss home. I miss cooking and sleeping comfortably
in my own bed. Not that being crowded on a small bed in entirely unpleasant
either.
Anyway, I gotta go to NY to find an apartment this
week. Then hopefully it's off to Hilton Head, SC. Then maybe to Jed's
lake house in Maryland, then to Rodzilla's place in upstate NY. Let's
hope it all works out. I'll update this more when I get home. Well,
that's all, folks.
