Pictures of the Southern vacation-

In and around Lexington, VA

The new University Commons at Washington and Lee. This was a wooded hill when I was a student there.

Miss Charming Melodee inside the University Commons.

Jesus, Dale Earnhardt, Ronald Reagan portraits. Which side of the Mason-Dixon line you reckon we're on?

A beagle, sitting on top of his dog house. Very Snoopy-esque.
Buena Vista, VA.

Odd looking idol head found overlooking Irish Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very Brady Bunch-esque.  Adding to the creepiness were the dozens of bugs wriggling underneath it when I flipped it over.

Overlooking Buena Vista, VA, on the Parkway.

Super Wal-Mart, Lexington
So sad. The Loneliest Lobster. I particularly like the random capital "D" on the sign. I thought it was very conscientious of someone to mark the lobster's status with a sign, particularly since I joked that we should buy this lobster before noticing the sign. Hilarity ensued.

Goshen Pass, VA.

Liberty Hall Ruins, burned down in the 1780's.

Outside Leyburn Library, Washington and Lee campus. I don't believe I'd ever seen a bee warning sign before. I wonder if the yellow and black was intentional.

To Georgia:

A giant peach, somewhere in South Carolina. Miss CM had wanted to take photos of every giant item we encountered, which oddly enough turned out ot be quite a great number.  This looks like a giant ass to me.

Speaking of giant- me, cowering from Louie, the 135-lbs American Bulldog owned by Miss CM's brother, in Athens, GA. A gentle giant, thank God.

Outside the Mercer House, Savannah, GA. The setting for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I'm leaning backward, which forces distubring perspective.

Fountain in Forsyth Park in Savannah.  We were warned, also not to get too close to the Spanish Moss.
It was hot as hell.

Hilton Head Island, SC. Me, eating my first-ever BLT. Miss CM felt it worth documenting.  Bacon on the beach- can't be beat.

Miss Charming Melodee on the beach at dusk, Hilton Head.
Miss CM and the beach is tough to beat as well.

A few minutes later. She's trying to catch little fish.  The clouds looked otherwordly.

The dog Duke, impatiently waiting for a treat.  Home in PA.
