Daily Aggravations and Regrets
and various random thoughts

    Nora's here.  Huzzah!

I actually haven't seen her yet.  I just got back from my 4th Kaplan class, which went much better than it seemed it would at this time last night. This time last night, I was at the bar 9C, watching James play a show.  I figured if I wanted to do Kaplan, I only wanted to do it if I could fit it into my existing lifestyle.  And sure, I only slept 4 hours last night, but I think I pulled it off pretty well.  I actually found myself almost having fun while I was teaching my lesson today.  I'm stll not sure I'm going to teach there-  or "instruct," as some teacher people have taken exception to the term "teach" when applied to Kaplan- but it's good to have that feather in my cap, in case I'll want to do it somewhere down the road.
Anyway, I'm very excited about Nora being here. Though staying two months, in my room, on my floor, isn't the most appealing arrangement.  I told her the quicker we got romantically involved, the easier the living arrangements would get.  Not bloody likely.
Anyway, the past few days on the whole seem to have been about reconnecting with friends and acquaintences I hadn't seen or heard from in a while or never expected to hear from again.  For starters, I ran into former roommate Aaron on the street yesterday on the way to the show. I hadn't seen him since Dan's wedding in San Francisco, and Jed and I were just talking about that fact.  On Monday, I got an email from Jeanne Dillon, a college friend who i'd never really thought I'd hear from again.  Sure, I emailed her, but I wasn't even really expecting a response.  I've also been emailing this girl Felice that I worked with last summer at the second most boring job I've ever had for more than a day.  I actually emailed her to tell her that I'd found a job even more boring than the one we had last summer, which was the previous record holder.  And last night, Kate Clark, my boss from the Parks Department, called me up.  I honestly thought I'd never hear from her again.  We parted on pretty bad terms, with her writing me some pretty bitchy emails.  That was back in January, and I'd thought of her a few times since, just when cycling through my phone numbers and seeing her name.  She's having a little bbq up at her house in Inwood, all the way up on 218th st, in Manhattan, and wanted to invite me.  So I guess I'll go.  It'll be weird, i'm sure, but definitely interesting. I'm going to try to drag nora along as well.  need a wingman in case I go into Silent Asian Boy mode.  Anyway, noodles on the stove, Nora down at a bar with Jed and Matt.  Not wearing any pants.  Gotta tend to these things.  Funny to think about how different things would be, depending on what order I took care of them.
