Mail to G-RockSo I leave for Las Vegas in about six hours. Sure am excited. Considered going to Atlantic City last night with Caryn, but I guess that would've been sort've absurd considering I'm going to Las Veags today. But then, that was sort of the appeal. Anyway, Jed just left a few minutes ago. We're flying out to LV to meet up with our former roommate "Crushing" Dan Rushing, who's getting hitched next weekend. I can hardly believe it. So we're spending a few days in Las Vegas, then Dan, Jed, Aaron, and myself- the former SHOE residents- are renting a car and driving to San Francisco for one last hurrah. I'm very excited abot Vegas. What with the gambling problem and whatnot. I'm wondering what we're going to do there for two days. Probably lots of gambling and strippers. It is a "bachelor party" after all. Though I doubt it'll be anything incredibly crazy. Especially since some of Dan's future in-laws will also be there. But honestly, I don't have that much interest in some stripper's greasy boob. well, sure, I do, but I don't really have the cash to pay for that sort of thing. But if Dan wants a big fake boob in his face, he'll get a big fake boob in his face. After, it's his special day. And what are friends for?So the trip of course means that the job search is suspended for a little while. I did get another writing gig. It's not paid though. However, they did offer me thousands of shares of stock. Of course, the stock isn't with bubkus. It could be some day though. Anyway, the gig is a mixed drink review column. I've always wanted my own column, and I certainly enjoy mixed drinks. And if I actually made money and paid taxes, going to bars could be a tax write-off. One small benefit of journalism is that just about anything can be a tax write-off. I just don't benefit from that.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this trip. Besides two days in LA when I was 11, I've never spent any time in the western part of the country. Actually, I've never been really spent any time farther west than Ohio. I've been up and down the east coast a thousand times, but never west. So it should be grand. I'm particularly looking forward to the car ride to SF. Driving through the desert, windows down, radio on, etc. Then just spending a week in San Francisco. I'm going to try to be a big tourist. I just hope I don't forget to pack anything important. Dan's wedding is black tie, which I think is kinda cool. I went out and bought a bow tie yesterday because I lost mine, then came home and found it in my tuxedo shoes. Figures. I hate weddings! This is my first of at least three weddings in the next four months, not including my own. Which is probably a good three to four years aways at the very least. but more about that later. Big year for weddings.
Well, time to put on some pants. Rodzilla is coming over for brunch. Though I suspect she'll be here approximately 11-17 minutes late. Not that I'm Mr. Punctual. Do you remember those books? the "mr." books? They were little square books, and they all featured a different character, like "Mr. Scribbles," or "Mr. Square," and that sort of thing? I loved those books. Probably at a much later age than i should have. I didn't like to really read until recently. Anyway, i'm off. Don't forget the flowers in your hair.
