I was just trying to remember the last time I played in the rain.  Not for any particular reason. Just a thought I'd been thinking about on and off for the past few days.  It's weird trying to remember the last time you did something, like when was the last time I ever said "Can you come out and play?" to a childhood friend.  Or when was the very last time your mom ever drove you to school.  You didn't think at the time "this is the last time in my life this will ever happen."  So i was thinking about the last time i ever mindlessly frolicked in the rain.  It's very liberating, when you don't care about getting wet, to just run around and be stupid in the rain.  I'm sure I'm forgetting instances, but the time that comes to mind was in the fall of 1997.  I was trying to woo back my girlfriend Liz, whom I had broken up with during the summer.  So I went over to see her at her apartment, and we took a little walk I think.  She lived in the Woods Creek apartments, so named because they're sort of in the woods, up the hill from the creek.  Anyway, it was sort of a balmy fall afternoon. It was chilly, but not unpleasantly so.  So we walked all around the woods, around the tennis courts and baseball fields and forest.  It started to rain, but I guess we didn't really want to call it a day, so we kept walking.  Eventually we ended up on this big obstacle course, which we assumed was used by the neighboring Virginia Military Institute.  By then it was pouring, but we just kept walking around, chatting, and having a nice cheesy time.  I'm not sure how we managed to date for almost two years.  Well, we did break up four times.  There were so many things about her that I couldn't stand.  Still, i have to say, she's probably one of the most truly good-natured peeople I've ever known, and she was there for one of my more pleasant, and innocent, memories of post-adolescence.
After that walk, i think we went back to the SHOE and ordered Chinese food. I think I had barbecued ribs.

Anyway, it's saturday night, 10 PM. Not sure if I'll do much more than writing this entry.  Yesterday afterwork I met James for dinner at Avenue A, a sushi place. James hated it, because of the electronica playing loudly whole place.  Anyway, Matt showed up, then we walked over to a bar on 7th st. and Ave. B.  Coincidentally bumped into James' friend Artie.  Then Rodzilla came, then Jen, then Holly and Rachel, then Jed and Dylan.  So juuuust about everyone I know and love in New York was there.  So it was a nice night.  Matt wanted to play drinking games.  Rodzilla, Matt, Jen and I engaged in a little drinking relay, with Matt and Rodzilla as a team and me and Jen.  I hate this kind of shit, and i didn't really want to partcipate. but I was fairly confident that at the very least, I could drink quicker than Rodzilla.  So we started, and i beat her by a second or two, while Jen was yelling at me to hurry and finish because Rodzilla seemed to be winning. Anyway, as Rodzilla and I were both saying "I can't believe I actually did that," I looked at Jen, who was about halfway done, and then to matt, who was slamming his empty mug on the table. I was like "what the fuck was that? I just blinked.  I can't even drink water that fast!"  Anyway, I was pretty drunk after that. I never really drink beer either, but they were only 9 bucks for the pitchers. It's probably the most beer I've had since freshman year in college.  It's sort of odd that now, nearing the age of 25, is when we all sort this stupid binge drinking.  It was a fun time though. Rodzilla kept leaning over and telling me that all she could think about when she looked at Matt and Jen was "he peed on her!"  Which he has. Thrice. She kept going "pssssss..." imitating I guess a stream of urine.  So anyway, we hung out there till about one, with matt ever so often downing beers with lightning speed.  So then we headed to Great Lakes.  Rachel, Holly, Dylan and I headed over first. Matt, Jen, and Jed showed up about 40 minutes later.  They told us they had to go to our apartment first. When I got home that night, I had to fetch Matt his pants from my room. I asked why he'd changed pants, but he just ignored me.  I didn't find out until this afternoon that Matt had in fact thrown up at the bar after I left, and had to get out of his puke stained clothes. So I wasn't at all pleased that I had picked up his pants, or that they had been lying on my floor.  But Jed said the puke was pretty much just beer.  Anyway, it's not surprising, given how much beer he drank.  So we sat at Great Lakes till about 3. Everytime Matt visits, we always drink so much.  We always have fun though.  And to tell you the truth, I'm kind of thirsty for a beer right now, which only happens once every year or so.  So I suppose I'll go and take care of that.  Or maybe just stay home and read.
