Wednesday
Mail to G-RockHey there. Are you interested in how I spent my day? Then you've come to the right place, brother. Here's how I spent february 14th, 2001.Woke up late, feeling kind of poopy. Got to work sort of late. I spent most of the day not doing much, and the little stuff I did was a lot of heavy lifting. that really pissed me off. I was half expecting it, though, because I was writing yesterday about how much I was liking work. Though I must say, despite what a blah day it was, on my way home tonight, i was still looking forward to going in tomorrow. Wonder what that's about.
Anyway, after work, I met up with Jen, and spent Valentine's night with her. We had dinner at French Roast on 12 th St. It was sort of unsatisfying for Jen, since all she wanted was a milkshake. She bought me dinner though, since I had exactly 10 spendable dollars for the foreseeable future. I got troubles. Anyway, after that, we continued to wander the West Village. We do that a lot. We decided we want to hang out, but can't figure out where, so we just say "How bout we meet under the Waverly at around 7:30, then we'll decided." So we meet, and then we walk up and down 6th ave trying to figure out where to go. At first we ended up at Arby's but their shake maching was on the fritz. Plus, they were out of onion buns, and Lord knows I'm not about to eat a Beef 'n Cheddar sandwich without no onion bun. No siree. So we got the hell outta there. So instead, I had a roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes and spinach. One o' me favorite meals when dining out. A pleasant dinner.
So then we continued to wander, trying to figure out what to do. I kinda wanted some coffee, so we stopped by a Hagen Daaz. I don't know why I thought they'd have coffee. I think the one here in Park Slope does. but this one didn't. Jen didn't mind though, since all she could think about was Bailey's ice cream. So I went elsewhere to get my coffee, then we sat outside on the bench for a bit. It was a very pleasant night out. Almost balmy. I woulda been fine sitting there for a few hours. Jen gave me some of her ice cream, since she had been raving about it. It was ok. maybe if it had been my ice cream i woulda thought it was better, but one of my big rules is: I don't share dairy. It's the slime factor. Dairy provokes to many slimies. Unless I'm going to be kissing someone later anyway, I won't share dairy with anybody. Mainly things like cottage cheese, ice cream, and milk. One of the worst things someone can say to me would probably be "hey, can I have a bit of your cereal?" That'd be like, totally gross. I was actually having this same discussion with my roommate Dylan at three in the morning in my kitchen the other day. It's one thing that'll never change. I don't particularly enjoy sharing beverages in the first place, but dairy is a quantum leap in ickiness. No way.
Anyhow, after that, we walked over to the Fat Black Pussycat for a drink. I was still feeling sort of queasy from last night, so I wasn't feeling too much like drinking. But just needed some place to hang out. We got a pitcher of beer, and Jen probably drank 3/4 of it. Anyway, the night was a pleasant time. Glad to have my people in New York. Pretty lucky. i really do enjoy walking around with Jen on a breezy night and talking about stupid stuff. And I'm excited about Matt coming into town tomorrow. Things seem to generally be more festive when he comes around. and I don't have to work Friday, so I suspect I'll be sitting around reading and drinking coffee all day. I can't believe it's halfway through February already. The days are just zipping by.
