Mail to G-Rock
So the Rodzilla visit went pretty well I thought. No drama, no problems. Just glad she's back. Anyway, she's gone now. She went down to Philly yesterday to help her brother find an apartment. he just got a new job. Polymer engineer, I believe. So they found a place, and are probably headed back to Allegany NY right now. Rodzilla and I spent the week mostly eating and watching TV. The eating consisted mostly of various foods mixed in butter and/or cheese. The tv consisted mostly of watching movies. We didn't spend all that much time out of the apartment, and only ventured out of Brooklyn once I think. That's kind of hard to believe. And that one time was so that she could go to the school where she'll be teaching. She officially accepted the job. It's a middle school on East 4th st, predominantly latino girls. She'll be teaching all manner of subjects like social studies, french, and reading and lit I think. I'm kind of jealous. I wish my teaching experience in DC had been more rewarding, but there was no getting through to those kids. And I didn't really want to teach kindergarten either. 6th grade or something woulda been fun. Anyhow, the area is kind of cool, but Rodzilla was a little sketched out by it as we were walking there, and by the homeless bums that accosted her as she left the school. They were just sort of lewd i guess. Actually about a block from my apartment, some latino guys were whistling as we walked by. They were gesturing to each other, saying "Mira! Mira! Mira!" and whistling. I thought it was funny. So Rodzilla was having quite a day.Anyhow, I'm excited about Rodzilla living and working in New York in the fall. Speaking of working, the job thing hasn't really gotten off the ground. I've been freaking out over the past week about finding a person to take Howard's now vacant room. I'm glad the room is empty right now though. I have the drumset in there, and it's a good way to pass the time. And it's the only room that gets any sun in this place. Rodzilla thought I'd have trouble filling the room because she thought the apartment was too filthy. So we spent the better part of Saturday and Sunday cleaning up the place. A monutmental undertaking, it turned out to be. But well worth it. The place does look good.
The past week has only been marred by the nagging anxiety of job hunts and roommate searches. And it's getting worse. I'm going to be eating a coupla hundred bucks in rent I think. And I don't even want to look at my resume. Every time I do, the anxiety gets so much worse. I've really got to redo it. that's this weekend. And then they go out on Monday. I need some goddam money. Anyway, I think I'll go for a run. It's the only thing that keeps me from feeling like a total sack of shit. And I gotta work off all the butter too. Mmmmm...butter. me likey.
