Mail to G-RockI just got back from the Modest Mouse show at the Bowery Ballroom. It was allright. Very loud. I'm getting old. They were very overindulgent as far as their end-of-the-song jamming. The weather was absolutely abhorrent. It was thundering and lightning like a mutha. I stopped in this Taco Bell around Union Square before the show to get some food and seek shelter, and to use the bathroom, but this vagrant with a big wet grey trashbag beat me to the bathroom. I waited like 5 minutes, then tried the bathroom again, but it was locked. He heard me at the door, and shouted "Just a minute." So I stood outside of the door, and heard all this shouting and exclaiming and protesting, like "damn!? Shit! Fuck!" or something like that, and a lot of shuffling. Anyway, I had a cookie that I wanted to eat, and this homeless man's imagined bathroom mess was making me lose my appetite. When he finally got out of the bathroom, he said something to a guy with a mop, saying he wasn't happy with the cleanliness of the bathroom, and that it needed to seriously be mopped. I went over to the Barnes and Noble to use the bathroom.
I watched Dead Poet's Society on HBO today, the first time I'd ever seen it. I've been told by numerous people over the years, mostly girls, that I simply had to see it. So I watched it. And I actually liked it. I didn't find Robin Williams his usual annoying self, and I didn't find Ethan Hawke his normal annoying self. So that was a pleasant surprise.
And I actually went for a run this afternoon. And faxed my resume to a temp agency. And bought an air conditioner to help with the oncoming heat. And Rodzilla even called, and we didn't get cut off and actually spoke for more than a minute, maybe evern 4. So all in all, not a bad day. For some reason though, the Rodzilla conversation made me a bit upset. Not sure why. Well, sort of. Just something she said. And she's only staying here for a few days when she gets back. So that's disappointing. Don't know when I'll see her after that. and I had such grandiose planz. Anyway, I have an early bus to catch tomorrow. Gotta go home, then drive to Amherst, MA, to see my brother Geoff graduate. Yee-ha. Geoff told me that Bill Amend, creator of the comic strip Foxtrot and Amherst alum, will be receiving an honory degree. So I'm excited to see that. anway, yo i'm out.
