Mail to G-Rock
Well, almost done with school. A brutal last few days. I didn't get to sleep on Sunday till about 6am, and about 5am last night. It was sort of depressing going to sleep, turning of the lights, and having the first daylight come through the blinds. But things turned out OK, I think. We had class at my professor's apartment tonight, and I drank too much wine for not having eaten or slept much. I got a little too confrontational I think with my prof. I also sent her a demented email last night at 3am. she was cool about it though. I used the word "malarky" in the email. maybe that smoothed things over.
So i was late meeting Jen back at school. tonight was the Built To Spill show that I had so been looking forward to. It was pretty good, but way too short. Their songs are pretty long, so they didn't really play that many. The last song was at least 10 to 15 minutes long. They're really good at that wall-of-sound thing though. It was pretty impressive live. Very loud though. i recommend seeing them if they're in your area. Well worth it.
So here I am now. I think I'll go play guitar for a bit.Ok, now that I've gotten that outta my system... well, not much else to say. OK, that's a lie.
I figured out yesterday that my main goal in life thus far has been to make people like me, then once I'm fairly confident that they really do like me a lot and miss me when I'm not around, I want less and less to hang out with them. I wonder why that is. And I wonder why I didn't really figure that out till yesterday.
PFC Kathy happens to be here right now. She didn't come over with me. She was here when i got home from the Built to Spill show. Speaking of BTS, I find it odd that they're touring in support of their new live album. The live album was recorded over their last tour. So basically, they're touring in support of their last tour. Playing live to sell their live album. Actually, it makes more sense when you say it that way. If you like them live, then you'll probably like the CD. What you see is what you get, I suppose. Anyhow, Kathy is over visiting Jed. she brought a toothbrush. Big step. I like this, because I never feel like divulging the embarrassing little details of my own love life, and now i can divulge the dirty little secrets of the Jed/Kathy tryst. How exciting.
So I have one more paper to go. it's a rewrite, and it's due Monday. Ideally, I'd like it to be done by thursday. But I'd like a lot of things. that don't make 'em so. So i suspect monday it will be. I'll be home for the weekend. I actually have a lot of reading I want to do. Leisure reading. Didn't think I'd ever enjoy reading. I promised Rodzilla I'd read this book she sent me, Tuesdays With Morrie. I don't know anything about it, except that Oprah loved it. But Rodzilla really liked it, so I'm trying to keep an open mind. I bought another Vonnegut book the other day, Galapogos, and I really want to start that. I think I'll read a few more Vonnegut books, then move on to something else for a while. I want to read Hi Fidelity before I see the movie too. Jed was trying to get me to read it before I got on this Vonnegut kick in January. He realy likes Nick Hornby, and suspected I would also like it. But when i perused it, it seemed like it was trying to be a little too hip. But know I want to read it, solely based on the fact that it's a movie now, I suspect. Putty in the hands of corporate America, am I. Now they'll get my money twice. Once for the movie, and two for the show. that should've read, "and once for the show." But I've never had the opportunity to write "two for the show."
