Daily Aggravations and Regrets
March 9, 2000.  Thursday.

Well, I'm sitting here in my apartment, in my underpants.  I just got out of the shower. Luckily, the desktop camera PFC Caryn got me isn't on right now.
Anyhow,  I begin my trip to France in about 3 hours, but I felt like writing before I left. I just wrapped up a paper on the "Outlandish Lie Game" for class. I should really define that in the Index of Frequently Used Nouns.  It's a hum-dinger.

You know, I think I'm too tired to write anything. I stayed up till about 5 AM packing and writing.  That was the plan though, since I want to be able to sleep on the plane. I get in a t 7am Paris time, which is 1 am  for you kids on the east coast.  I don't have much to update anyway. I went into work with Aaron yesterday to do research for the paper it i thought I was going to write, but i remembered the Outlandish Lie game while there. He works at Razor and Tie Records.  They put out things like "totally 80's" and "Monsters of Rock," and "Monster Ballads."  They're also trying to sing more real bands. One person signed is a gentleman know as Cledus "T." Jones I think. Why the "T" is in quotes, i don't know. Anyow, my plan was to start the paper with a quote from the Poison song, "Every Rose Has its Thorn," and then keep inserting lame quotes. In between the lame quotes, I was going to insert all the lame things that people there said, and just make it look like, as Aaron said, "Monster Ballads isn't just a record, it's a lifestyle."  But I didn't think I'd get much out of portraying people as totally lame.  And I didn't get a lot of quotes. I hid a tape recorder in the pocket of my cargo pants, and I kept saying to Aaron "Talk into the pants!"  At one point, Aaron asked his coworkers "so what do you think of greg's pants?"  which was rather awkward for me, as his coworkers searched for nice things to say about my pants. they seemed most impressed by the fact that I was actually using the cargo pockets.

So it goes without saying that I'm pretty fucking excited to be going to France. Although I have been thinking how nice it'd be to spend my Spring Break here in NY, doing nuthin.  It seems as if things are only right now finally getting interesting.  James is finally starting to play in public, and I'm going to miss his first show. Jed met two young ladies at Great Lakes last week, and they came to the party on Saturday. And they called him yesterday to go out drinkin.  the twosome is a bit puzzling though, and I'm afraid it might lead to him being stuck in the "friend" category.  So that's a bit weird.  Anyhow, time to put on some pants.
