Daily Aggravations and RegretsI am very, very tired all of a sudden. Class was an up and down event today. I got back a paper that wasn't too hot, but the story proposal I came up with pretty much on the stop well pretty well received. I think. I have to write a social milieu piece, so I picked wanna be rock stars. Not "rock stars," exactly, but people who wanna rock. So I guess I'll just spend a few days following James around. Unfortunately, he's on a European tour right now. But I got plenty of time. Speaking of europe, I'll be going myself in march. And a bit sooner than I thought. My class today is cancelled on the day before I was going to leave, so now I can go a day or two earlier. So I'm exicited about that. I'm flying to Paris, and Rodzilla will be meeting me there. Ooo-la-la...Anyhow, I'm getting a little more interested in music again I think. I'm a little excited about doing my rock star project. And I've been listening to a lot of Built to Spill's There's Nothing Wrong With Love and Pavement's Wowee Zowee. And I just picked up the new Modest Mouse compilation, Building Nothing out of Something. I like it a lot. I'd only heard one or two Modest Mouse songs before, but for the most part it's a pretty good disc. I got it partly because PFC Kathy, who's heard much more Modest Mouse than myself, said it looked like a pretty good compilation. Some if it really doesn't work for me, but when it's on it's pretty great. Anyhow, that's what's in my cd player right now. Those three, and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Stereolab's Mars Audiac Quintet. Me likey...
Here's something I found while reading some prowrestling newsboards:
"Speaking of independent wrestlers, we have an apparent retirement on our hands. Mike Quackenbush, an outstanding independent wrestler who's been in the scene for quite some time now, has decided to hang up his boots. He says that this moment, it's his final decision, but just like any wrestler, he may have some interest to return to the ring sometime soon. He made the announcement on his site, which can be found at www.wrestlesource.com/qhq. However, he will continue to write his wrestling column in "The Wrestler" magazine."
That's right, Mike has decided to retire. I find this a bit disappointing. I always hoped he'd make it big. That would a been neat-o. but maybe now he can come back in a few years as "The Legendary" Mike Quackenbush. i suppose it's hard to argue with his reasons, and I'm glad I got to see him perform last summer, one of maybe only two times I ever saw him wrestle in an actual ring. Coincidentally, the Insane Clown Posse showed up to wrestle that night as well, increasing the whole absurdity of the evening.
