January 17th, 2000. Monday
Mail to G-RockI suppose if having to work at 5pm requires you to get out of bed early, then it's time to seriously reevaluate your lifestyle. I was actually rushing to get things done before I had to go to work today. These things consisted of: eating lunch, doing a few errands state-side for Rodzilla, and watching most of The Karate Kid. I'm pleased to report that I got everything done.So anyhow, I was somewhat dismayed that I had to work today, especially since last night I found out that today was Martin Luther King day. But when I last saw my boss, he said "See you Monday," and there were signs in the computer lab that said the labs re-opened today. So I braved the 10 degree cold and trekked into Manhattan, only to find out that, no, i didn't have to work. fucking great. I almost stayed, because it's not like I don't need the money. But the thought of coming home at ten in the fucking cold was too much to bear, so I left.
On the way to the subway, I ran into PFC Katey on Bleeker St. She was with two other people I didn't recognize. She didn't see me, so i said "Hey Katey." To which she replied "Greg!" we stared blankly for a second, her blank stare on account of shock and surprise, I mine on account of general demeanor. I had nothing important to say to her, and it was too cold, so I just said "It's too cold," and walked away. she didn't seem to mind.
I'm nearly finished with Cat's Cradle. I stopped by the eatery called Dizzy's, which is right at the F train stop, and read a bit more, but for some reason I came home twenty pages from the end. I guess i wanted to savor the end and experience it in a warm, friendly, and ideal environment. I'm like that with a lot of stuff. Everything has to be just as a imagined it when I first got the idea in my head. If it's not, than I'm inevitably dissappointed in some way.
I noticed this morning that when my G4 is in "sleep" mode, the light that's usually green on the power button pulses slowly in yellow. When I got out of bed briefly at 8am this morning, I thought that was one of the cooler things I'd seen in a long while.
