January 16th, 2000. Sunday
Mail to G-RockSo... it's fucking freezing outide right now. I was looking forward to a quiet evening at home, being a sunday, and sunday being th best night on TV. But no... the cable is on the fritz. So Jed and I trekked over to Jen's place in Manhattan to watch The Sopranos. While there, I had a hot pastrami sandwhich that is now the cause of some moderate abdominal discomfort. So my chief concern right now is that that'll be going away fairly soon. I also watched a few minutes of that horrible Patrick Swayze movie "Next of Kin." Patrick plays a hillbilly cop, whose hillbilly brother is killed. So he goes to the big city to right this wrong, hillybilly-justice style. You can tell he's a hillbilly by his hillbilly hat. Anyway, for such a horrible movie, I was shocked by the number of now-notable actors in it. I guess the movie's about ten years old. A very young-looking Ben Stiller was one of the villains. Liam Neeson played Patrick's revenge-minded hillbilly brother. And Helen Hunt played Patrick's sophisticated, violin-teaching girlfriend. Regardless, a pretty shitty movie.
So it was a fairly uneventful day today. I spent most of it on my computer, as predicted. I have a few more college essays to write as well. I had a late lunch with Jed, where h detailed his evening out on the town last night, which resulted in his getting a little sumpin-sumpin. So that's good for the big guy, I suppose. And I had a series of pleasant talks with Rodzilla as well, so all in all, "I gotta say it was a good day." I've had that Ice Cube song in my head all weekend, since James and I were talking about it on Friday, which is coincidentally the title of that Ice Cube movie.
Anyhow, I'm not too thrilled to be starting class on tuesday. this is the longest break I've ever had in my life, and I like it. A whole month off. More than that. I got a full tenth of the year off I think. Not too shabby when you think about it. I'm really looking forward to going to france in march. I'm sick of not going anywhere. I've been to the airport so much lately, and I never go anywhere. That's very annoying.
